Project Description:

CivilTech worked as part of a team that provided transportation mobility improvements to IH 35W corridor: from IH 820 to IH 30. Our team’s section included a 5.5-mile section of the IH 35W bridge over the West Fork Trinity River. CivilTech’s role was particularly important as it required obtaining Section 10, 408 and 404 permits from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) associated with the Fort Worth Floodway (FWF) levee as the 120-foot-wide bridge crossed the levee. The existing bridge had 14, 68-foot spans supported by 30-inch diameter columns. Analysis of structural sufficiency spanning the levee system on the south side of the listed bridges was also included. Our team provided detailed design services for the construction of a structural floodwall within the existing federal levee. Other professional services include the Corridor Development Certificate (CDC) Application and the FEMA Conditional Letter of Map Revision (CLOMR) and Letter of Map Revision (LOMR) Applications. Extensive coordination was held with USACE, TxDOT and Tarrant Regional Water District (TRWD) for the design and permitting requirements for the bridge modifications in the levee areas.
