IH-10 Reconstruction: Sections 3 & 6

  • IH-10 Reconstruction: Sections 3 & 6

Project Description:

For one of the world’s largest transportation projects, our team provided plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E) associated with highway and drainage improvements. Drainage design elements included drainage area maps, storm sewer plan sheets, storm sewer lateral sheet, detention pond layout sheets, summary of quantity sheets, hydraulic computation sheets, and bridge hydraulic data sheets.

The first section for which our team was responsible, Section 3, included the project extension from Eldridge Road to Kirkwood Road, a length of approximately 2 miles, and crosses stream channels at two bridges and two culvert drainage structures. Section 6 included an extension from Campbell Road to Silber Road, a length of approximately 2.5 miles, and crosses stream channels at three bridges and four culvert drainage structures. The project included reconstruction of the highway from 11 lanes to 22 lanes, an unprecedented freeway width, with HOV managed lanes. The CivilTech Team prepared PS&E for the storm drainage systems, bridge hydraulics, hydrology and hydraulic modeling, and detention ponds.
