    CAD TECHNICIAN II JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES
    • Use Autodesk Civil 3D to perform accurate drafting and annotation for plan, profile and detail sheets in construction plans
    • Use project specifications, detailed drawings and verbal instructions to complete assignments
    • Coordinate with Project Manager to ensure client specific demands are being met both in the office and field
    • Complete redlines for modification of existing plans and notes or preparation of new details or design elements 
    • Complete construction plan sets by compiling all plan, profile, note and detail sheets to present a comprehensive design
    • Review maps and drawings to ensure that field and technical data is recorded and considered 
    • Quality control assistance of client specific deliverables according to standards and best practices 

     

    PREREQUISITE EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND SKILLS

    • 2+ years of recent experience in similar position within engineering industry
    • High level of proficiency using Microstation, Geopak, Inroad, Civil 3D and similar software
    • Knowledge of Open Roads preferable
    • Excellent attention to detail 
    • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously 
    • Maintain an organized work area, filing system, and action list for timely completion of all goals and activities
    • Ability to provide proof of an established work history
    • Understand and communicate TxDOT specifications 
    • Communicate effectively via verbal and written communications

    Performs a variety of clearly defined assignments that require the application of standard design engineering techniques, procedures and criteria.

    Using prescribed methods, applies techniques to specific civil engineering or construction projects

    Reads/interprets surveys and researches design options

    Excellent verbal/written communication. Responsible for writing and creating technical project reports

    Working knowledge of AutoCAD, MicroStation and Civil 3D

    Reviews work for discrepancies or inconsistencies, adjusts and correlates data, and follows operations through a series of related detailed steps or processes to completion under the guidance of an experienced engineer.

    Supports mid and senior level engineers to complete planning, research preliminary design, and may be required to perform detailed design modeling tasks.

    Undertakes basic research on engineering conditions and laws and permitting organizations such as City, State and County officials to develop knowledge of permitting process and the application of codes to engineering assignments.

    Assists with the preparation of documentation including plans, maps, drawings, reports, data spreadsheets, specifications, supporting documents and permit applications.

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

    Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited four-year college or university

    Minimum of 2 years of experience

    Received EIT license and intention to sit for PE exam when eligible

    Experience in TxDOT or transportation engineering is preferred

    Must have a valid driver’s license

    LANGUAGE SKILLS:
    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

    COMPUTER AND MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

    Candidate must demonstrate basic knowledge of Microstation and GeoPak, including Corridor Modeler. Demonstrates basic knowledge of design applications such as hydraulic design and roadway design. Must be proficient in the usage of Microsoft Office Suite products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

    Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, geometry, trigonometry and financial functions.

    REASONING ABILITY:

    Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

    GIS TECHNICIAN JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

    • Maintain information and ensure accuracy of all data, as well as provide GIS support to all other departments.
    • Produce high quality cartographic products for reports, meetings and presentations
    • Convert data from various sources such as GPS, Microsoft Excel, and Access files into spatial formats.
    • Multi-task and work with a fast paced environment.
    • Work with established organizational templates and standards
    • Work with and analyze remotely sensed data

     

    PREREQUISITE EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND SKILLS

    • Bachelor Degree in Geography, Cartography, Geographic Information Systems or related environment field preferred.
    • Requires 1-2 years of progressively responsible technical experience utilizing ESRI GIS software. Professional experience may be substituted for education requirements.
    • Must demonstrate an attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently with teams to complete project under deadlines.
    • Computer proficiency in MS Office, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
    • Skilled in data attribute manipulation and management.
    • Knowledge of geographic data structure, practices and methods.
    • Knowledge of geography as applied to the concepts and principles of GIS, map projections, datums and coordinate systems.
    • Knowledge of Python scripting and Model Builder a plus.
    • Skill in effective verbal and written communication.

    • Develops probable construction cost estimates for projects within the department.
    • Responsible for attending and leading client meetings.
    • Responsible for control of work-in-process, ensures accurate client billings and monitors both accounts receivable and collection efforts for projects.
    • Directs and supervises EIT and CAD technician activities.
    • Responsible for contract administration.
    • Prepares, modifies or directs preparation and modification of reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, environmental impact studies, and designs for project.
    • Directs technical staff in the preparation of construction drawings.
    • Visits construction site to monitor progress and other duties per the contract documents.

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

    • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university
    • Minimum of 6 years of experience
    • Professional Engineer with current Texas registration
    • Experience working with Harris County and/or TxDOT is preferred
    • Must have a valid driver’s license

    • Professional Engineer with current Texas registration

      • Maintain information and ensure accuracy of all data, as well as provide GIS support to all other departments.

      EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

      • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university
      • Minimum of 6 years of experience
      • Professional Engineer with current Texas registration
      • Experience working with Harris County and/or TxDOT is preferred
      • Must have a valid driver’s license
