The selected individual must be able to design multiple public and private transportation projects throughout Texas. Candidate will be exposed to transportation projects that include major highway design, from preparing plans and specifications for clients that include TxDOT, cities, counties, and area tolling authorities.

    This position will include mentorship from an internal and subconsultant team of engineers and technicians for successful delivery of projects varying in scale and teams varying in discipline.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Design to client and regulatory requirements

    Manage mid to large size projects and programs

    Advise of all quality, schedule and budget variances in a timely manner

    Manage subordinate and/or subconsultant team members to quality, schedule and budget requirements

    Shop drawing review and disposition

    Assists with the preparation of documentation including plans, maps, drawings, reports, data spreadsheets, specifications, supporting documents and permit applications.

    Create and enforcing project quality plan

    Data and document entry into various platforms

    Report safety, health and quality issues to management

    Prepare contract amendments, change order documentation, and claims documentation

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

    Minimum 2 years of transportation engineering experience on major roadways throughout Texas

    Prior interface with TxDOT, Toll Road Authorities, cities and counties

    Experience with daily use of Microstation, GeoPak and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D

    B.S. degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering, M.S. degree is a plus

In addition to a variety of projects, this opportunity will grant the successful candidate a strong opportunity for growth and management of graduate engineers, EIT, and new professional engineers. 

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Provides technical guidance on all aspects of projects and proposed plans

    Works with Project Management team to coordinate scope and strategy

    Prepares project designs and reports related to transportation projects

      Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

      COMPUTER AND MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: 

      Candidate must demonstrate basic knowledge of Microstation and GeoPak, including Corridor Modeler. Demonstrates basic knowledge of design applications such as hydraulic design and roadway design. Must be proficient in the usage of Microsoft Office Suite products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

      Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, geometry, trigonometry and financial functions.

      REASONING ABILITY:

      Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
